Commit No Nuisance

As you may already know from this post, I’m a big lover of signs.

Why?

They are informative for one. Travel somewhere unfamiliar and you’ll quickly learn how important they are.

But they also can be quite funny and creative.

For example, here’s one of my favorite signs I saw when I was in London a few weeks ago: read more »

4 Ways to Infuse Inspiration in Writing

You may have a blog, sell jewelry or work for a nonprofit. In all cases, writing something that inspire others is important.

Inspirational writing is actually quite versatile. Even seemingly non-inspiring pieces inspire others in surprising ways.

Think about what makes you bookmark a site or click through the pages of a particular blog every day. For me, it’s a person’s ability to express their passion whether it’s home decor or psychology. There’s something he or she is able to do and convey and it makes you want to be better. Then, you know you’ve found something inspiring.

Impatience’s No Friend of Mine

While I was roaming around London taking a bike tour or sitting on the curb in Paris eating ice-cream and listening to a band play American songs, I was blissfully happy.

Sure there were moments that tested me.

But nothing tested me more than Ms. Patience who bothered me when I got back home.

Reality Check: In every day life, it’s harder to find the Eiffel Towers to gaze upon or a reason to just be. I found it decadent and yet, so vital to sit in a cafe and stare outward and let time pass without bullying it to stay awhile.

I wondered why we Americans don’t do it more. read more »

What I Found Behind the Wizard’s Curtain

{photo source}

I haven’t been here for the last few weeks. And I’m still recovering from the effects.

Want to know where I’ve been?

I just returned from an adventurous few weeks in London and Paris. Two very glamorous cities. The trip itself was a lot more than I bargained for. But it wasn’t the oohs and aahs of big, beautiful Parisian architecture, the mystical stonehenge or the captivating Windsor castle that got to me.

Surprisingly, it was the big, unexpected lessons that sprouted out from disappointments, illness, and the hard to swallow violent past of the world’s history that made me feel like Buddha.{I suddenly felt like I was seeing the world and my life for the first time.}

Here’s what I learned: read more »

How to Live an Inspiring Life: Advice from the Professionals

I’ve always been fascinated by inspiring people. You know those that go beyond the ordinary, heart first into the extraordinary.

They’ve done things that most people wouldn’t dare do, let alone dream.

They are the people that motivate and inspire me.

So when attempting to be inspiring, I thought I’d go straight to the source and asked everyone from inspiring blogger Sherry Petersik from my favorite home decor site Young House Love to social media superstar Annabel Candy this question:

How do you live an inspiring life? read more »

What Makes Someone Inspiring?

One night my husband and I were up late at night talking about inspiration.

While I agree that we often look up to people who are successful, I think there is something inspiring about those who struggle every day to get to where they want to go. If you’re aspiring to be inspiring, just keep doing what you’re doing and then share your story with the rest of the world.

I was consulting someone recently on their website. We were working on what to highlight about her story when suddenly I got that pit in my stomach, goosebumps up and down my arms feeling. She was saying something that was inspiring me and I knew then it would inspire others.

It wasn’t her story of success that did it for me, but the vast legacy of her life, her intertwining experiences, her passion, her uniquely personal situation that took my breath away. I believe it’s these type of experiences and stories that can help you inspire others.
