Finding purpose in climate action.

About me

I’m just a local Japanese American writer who is trying her best to raise two rambunctious littles in a world that struggles to heal itself.

Thankfully, I have a background in Counseling Psychology, a BA in English and minor in Ethnic Studies. Yes a wildly weird background that on the surface makes little sense. But as I get older, it makes total sense. I’m using my writing skills, which if you have spare time you can check out on LinkedIn, Contently or my other blog at brandi-annuyemura.com and my psychology education to communicate ways to heal the earth. You can read more about my journey here.

My first picture book, “I am a Bon Dancer,” is coming out summer 2025. Published by Holiday House and illustrated by Amy Matsushita-Beal.

This is how it all started…

I was about 7-years old where my innocence over living in a healthy planet was quickly squashed when my teacher told me that our laundry detergent was killing our streams. For the rest of my life, I would worry: was this the last time that I would breathe clean air? Would my future family be able to swim in clean oceans?

In college, my passion for a healthy planet almost led me to get a BA in Environmental Science until I started taking courses and realized my right brain dominant creative side couldn’t comprehend the grades I needed to get a degree in this area. I settled on an English major and Ethnic Studies minor, two of my other passions. I later got a MA in Counseling Psychology. But a few chronic illnesses and two children later, and a 2024 election got mad, and I’m committed to helping where I can.

This is a place for you if you care about your children, families, and the earth. This is for you, if you’re frustrated by the government, by big corporations, by other people who are dictating what you do and want a place to discover how you can live your purpose and heal the earth too.
