You Are the Chosen One

You know what keeps me up at night?

The state of the world.

I think about how age has opened me up raw to the ways we sabotage ourselves to the greatest detriment of our well-being.

Not just at an individual level, but at a global one.

Imagine how many ways we humans destroy everything good that is not ours to destroy.

Imagine how vulnerable we are to the evils that play on the big screen.

That in reality the enemies are even more terrifying than any Halloween horror show.

There is a story about how monkeys get their hands trapped in a coconut. They put their hand in hoping to grab rice, but once their hand is in they can only escape it if they let go.

How many of us get stuck because we’ve got a death-like grip on the way things used to be?

It’s a sad state of affairs that makes me wonder how many ancient civilizations died because they weren’t able to adapt.

The truth is we’re a species that has the knowledge, technology and science to make gadgets for money, but we don’t have the emotional capacity to let go when we need to let go.

The things that we are in dire need of surrendering is greed.

Greed is why there are candies sold to kids that have titanium dioxide in them in our country, but are banned in others.

It’s why we our freedoms are slowly being taken away controlled by corporations and people who have no understanding or empathy of what it’s like to live our lives.

And why we are censored for everything.

When there is money to gain, we need to begin making decisions for ourselves.

Because money is like the rice in the coconut shell. Our entire state of well-being as a species and the future of our earth and our children rests on our realizing that we cannot continue to use up the earth’s resources, blow up people we don’t agree with, and save everything for ourselves.

There needs to be huge shifts in the way we think of this world. We need to learn from indigenous people and take back our world from those who are full of greed.

Otherwise we will end up trapped in the coconut, the end of our species.

If you feel like I do, then you understand the strong calling to do something. You are my kind of people. We’re sensitive, creative, but we’re often forgotten amongst a life that doesn’t understand us. Maybe we’ve gotten good at shape-shifting so that we are able to blend in. But our true power lies in our ability to be ourselves.
