Getting your dreams takes time.
It doesn’t mean you sit on the couch and wait for it to happen. It means you cultivate patience in the process.
When I was visiting the family in Hawaii last week, I dreamily began talking about an unattainable home I saw. It was already in escrow and a little over our price range. But I talked about it anyway. I envisioned what it would be like to live there. I went into details about how I would use the room and what I would use to decorate it.
In mid-sentence my dad said, “You’re dreaming!”
Yep, I was.
That’s how I created this life.
That’s how I got the apartment with the den that had already been signed off by a potential renter.
That’s how I got a recent copywriting job for a reputable well-known company that I never thought I’d get in a million years.
It’s how I created that necklace in the photo above. You can check the dets here.
It’s how I transformed my dream of being a writer into a reality.
It’s been about 2 1/2 years since I’ve been seriously freelancing and about 4 years since I’ve been writing full-time. I really started from nothing. Just an inkling of a dream I had when I was about 6 years old.
Imagine if I hadn’t dreamed? Imagine that.

The only nightmare is the dream of a dream undreamed. (I just made that up, but it stems from your last sentence. “Imagine that” ugh…chilling.
Great quote Steve! Will need to requote you with your credit of course. =)
