Every guru and expert will dole out fancy formulas to help you discover your purpose. They may help. But if you’re on a search to find out what you’re here for, there is something that can will save you time and money.
The secret is you already know what you’re supposed to do. Here are the obstacles getting in the way of your ability to pursue your purpose:
- There isn’t a job that fits your specific skills, experience and passion. Maybe freelancing is more the gig for you. Or maybe there is a need for your service that hasn’t even been created yet. The world is waiting on you to develop it.
- You’re unwilling to do what you need to do to get there. If hiring a sitter or sending your child to daycare is unimaginable, then having a successful full-time gig might not be a possibility unless you’re this guy. Professional success requires your undivided attention, which is difficult when you’ve got little ones to tend to.
- You’re terrified. Your mother said you’d be homeless if you ever decided to pursue writing or you secretly wonder if you have the creative talent and motivation to be successful. When we do the thing we’ve always wanted to do, the risks are big. There is the chance we’ll get rejected and we’ll fail. Both are realistic options when you’re working on something you care about. But as you get older, the fear of never trying will haunt you even more.
