Feeling like Charlie Brown? Turn Mr. Brown’s Frown Upside Down

Before I get into this post, I have to thank you guys for being so diligent and loyal. Somehow you manage to find me here on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at not2shabby on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

How do I know?

My stats look like a roller coaster ride with lots of steep dips on the days I’m not here and huge climbs when I am. So thanks!

Okay back to my original scheduled post…

What to Do When Discouragement Hits

Sometimes when I’m feeling discouraged, I need a tool to lift me up.

You know when I’m having a Charlie Brown day. Nothing’s going right. Lucy’s being a pill and Snoopy’s acting smug.

Those times make me feel lifetimes away from my dreams. It’s like the harder I run after it, the farther it retreats.

Well those days, I need an extra basket of tools to get me through. And one of my favorite ones I pull out is my past-o-meter.

It reminds me of the fact that I’ve been here before.

I’ll close my eyes and imagine I’m back in my 20’s. I thumb through my past and zone in on those embarrassing moments when I was searching for, “the one.” I was a typical hopeless romantic looking for love in all the wrong places.

Initially, I thought putting all my energy into finding the dream guy would seal the deal. But I was wrong. It took me a decade, but I realized that whether you’re looking for love or your dream job, that just doesn’t work.

When I think back, I remembered what I did prior to finding my soulmate (a.k.a my husband). I set an intention of what I wanted and even visualized what that person would be like. I worked on my self and focused on being alone until I found what I was looking for. Then, I let go.

Call me corny, but I think it worked. And I believe it’ll work again not just for love, but anything else your heart desires.

So the next time you’re on a hunt, be it love or your dream life, try it. Whip out that past-o-meter, and think back to a time when you really wanted something. Then, think about what you did to get there. I’ll bet it was a little bit of luck, some goal setting and letting go of the outcome, that helped get you there.

Try it.

Then, let me know how it works. I’m crossing my fingers and praying for you over here.
